Franciscan Benediction

May God bless you with discomfort at easy answers, half truths, and superficial relationships, so that you may live deep within your heart.

May God bless you with anger at injustice, oppression, and the exploitation of people, so that you may work for justice, freedom and peace.

May God bless you with tears to shed for those who suffer from pain, rejection and starvation, so that you may reach out your hand to comfort them and turn their pain into joy.

And may God bless you with enough foolishness to believe that you can make a difference in this world, so that you can do what others claim cannot be done.

Covenant Goals

As discussed at tonights meeting, our covenant goals for the trip are:

-RELATIONSHIPS FIRST: be mindful of reaching out to others
-Pray for each other (team members) every day, and for the people who couldn't come with us
-Push yourself to be out of your comfort zone
-Strive to be actually flexible (physically, mentally, spiritually)
"If you want to make God laugh, make plans." -Amanda
-Reflect on why you are here, why you are a member of this team
-Take time to hear others' stories
-"Me first gets to go last" -Kathy

Stacy would like to add: "Sing a lot."
Remember that the greatest gifts you can give are listening, your presence and being non-judgemental.

Welcome

Welcome to the blog for the 2010 Spring Break Missions Team from the Wesley House! We're excited to head down to South Carolina for some warm weather and God's work. Plan is to leave Harrisonburg at 10am on Saturday March 6th, drive to Georgetown where we'll be staying and working, spend a week, and drive back on Saturday March 13th.

Your prayers will be greatly appreciated as our team travels and gets to work. We have also set up a paypal account, thanks to Tyler if you would like to donate.

Thank you for all of your support!
